My first Pre-order of 2024, Fiasco by Constance Fay, came in laaaate last night, but I couldn’t go to sleep without at least devouring the first chapter! That’s because I adored Calamity, book one in Fay’s Uncharted Hearts series, so I knew I was in for a treat with its sequel.
I wasn’t blogging back when I read Calamity, a 2023 release, so I thought I’d celebrate the arrival of its sequel with a belated review.
Publishers Weekly calls Constance Fay’s debut sci-fi romance CALAMITY “Unputdownable,” and it’s so true! My phone was locked in a death grip from the moment I clicked open the eBook until the last word of CALAMITY’s heartwarming and sexy conclusion.
Temperance is a newly minted space captain with a freshly broken heart. After their former captain–Temperance’s ex–abandons ship, all Temperance wants is to keep her crew together. That’s why she’s willing to take a planet-scouting job that’s not only risky, but also requires her to bring an unwanted passenger aboard.
Arcadio Escajeda, said unwanted passenger, immediately sets about irking Temperance with his snarky insults, undeniable competence, and hard-to-ignore good looks. But as Temperance gets to know Arcadio, she begins to soften to his charms. That is, until she discovers he has an ulterior motive for the mission–one that puts her and her crew in grave danger.
A fast-paced and intriguing sci-fi adventure ensues, with equal parts blaster battles and steamy moments.
But the real fun of Calamity is Temperance’s hilarious first-person narration. The captain’s sense of humour is what makes her world seem real and makes her relatable.
I’ve already gobbled up the first chapter of Fiasco, the second book in the Uncharted Hearts series, and I’m happy to say that the sequel’s star, bounty hunter Cyn Khaw, has an equally hilarious and down-to-earth perspective on her sci-fi world.
I can’t wait to read the whole thing and tell you all about it!

So enjoying getting some new sci-fi romance reads and appreciate the in depth reviews. This sounds like something I would enjoy but haven’t heard of it before! I put it on my TBR list. Thanks!
I hope you like it as much as I did! <3
